Christmas light shows in Malaga

Malaga offers all kinds of Christmas light shows, these are three of the most special and popular:

Larios Street Light Show

The light show on Calle Larios is one of the most popular and favorite among the people of Malaga. This street is dressed in Christmas lights during these dates and offers a spectacle of lights and sounds that has become a tradition.
In addition, Calle Larios leads to the Plaza de la Constitución, so if you get to the end of this street, you will find the huge tree of lights 20 meters high, located right in the center of the square. This Christmas tree is illuminated every day from 18:30h in the evening.

Video mapping in the Cathedral of Malaga

Another very traditional show in recent years, is the videomapping that is projected on the manquita tower of the Cathedral of Malaga. It is a show that lasts about 10 minutes and is projected from November 27 until the end of the Christmas season (except 24 and 31 December), at 19:00h, 20:30h and 22:00h.

Light show with drones

This drone show is undoubtedly the most impressive. It has 120 drones that are perfectly coordinated to create shapes with Christmas colors during the days 3, 4, 6, 7 and 9 December at 20: 30h. This show can be seen from different parts of the city such as the Palmeral de las Sorpresas, Muelle Uno, Plaza de la Marina or Gibralfaro.

When is the light show in Calle Larios?

From November 26th, the Christmas illumination of Malaga will be inaugurated with 3 daily shows of this exhibition, the first at 18:30 in the evening, the second at 20:00 and the third at 22:00 at night.

Christmas markets in Malaga

The city of Malaga has two very popular Christmas markets; the Mercadillo del Paseo del Parque and the Mercadillo del muelle 1.
The first flea market will be from December 1 to January 7, and has 90 stalls where you can find cribs, figurines, Christmas decorations, trees, toys, and even stalls with food such as doughnuts or waffles.

On the other hand, closer to the sea, you will find the Mercadillo del muelle 1, with a more childish and focused on children. It is a Santa Claus village, with elves and an igloo with polar bears and a lot of activities for children to enjoy. It also has a less childish part, with decoration, fashion and crafts stalls. You can enjoy this market from December 1 to January 10.

What to do in Malaga at Christmas

Malaga is a city where you will never get bored, it always has an endless number of activities, but at Christmas time it stands out for its wide range of activities.

Christmas Escape Room in Malaga

Mimma, the interactive music museum of Malaga, has a great offer of Christmas activities, among them, an escape room that will take place on December 24 and 30 at 12:00h. This escape room is for all audiences so it is a perfect activity to enjoy with the family.

The theme is Christmas and the players’ mission will be to help free Santa’s elves who have been trapped just before the sleigh takes off for the gift delivery. They will have 45 minutes to find clues and decipher combinations to save the elves.

Flamenco show

No matter what time of the year you visit the city, you can’t leave Malaga without seeing a flamenco show. The most popular in the city are the flamenco shows at Alegria Flamenco & Gastronomy. There are different shows every day and you can also have a drink or dinner before the show. It is a perfect plan to do as a couple, as a family or with friends.

Three Kings Cavalcade in Malaga

The Three Kings Parade of Malaga is also one of the most popular in Spain, it is always a magical moment to see the faces of illusion of the little ones, while the Kings hand out candy. This parade of floats and live music bands, and dance that runs through the streets of the historic center of Malaga, takes place on January 5 and departs from Malaga City Hall at 17:30h.
